Welcome!
1924-1926
In 1924, Mattie Crawford, her singing group, and her tent came to Twin Falls. The tent was set up on the corner of Main and Idaho Street, where the Texaco station still is today. The revival was originally scheduled for about two weeks. Due to the meeting’s high degree of popular appeal, it was extended by one more week. It is said the whole town was singing “I See A Crimson Stream of Blood” during this tent meeting. News articles report that more than 2,500 people attended the Mattie Crawford revival. With Twin Falls having a recorded population of just over 8,300, that is a remarkable attendance percentage. During the revival, many were healed and received the Gift of the Holy Ghost. It is said that Jesus Name churches were established wherever Mattie Crawford meetings were held, and the same is true in Twin Falls. From this group of believers, Bethel Temple Church was incorporated on June 26, 1926.
1931-1963
In 1931, someone on the church board contacted Brother G.T. Haywood about a pastor. Brother Haywood recommended Brother B.M. David.
Brother David accepted the Pastorate in late 1931 and moved his household to Twin Falls in April 1932. During that interim period while awaiting their new pastor, Bethel Temple Church held many revivals in which people were saved, and the church grew. Brother G.T. Haywood also passed through Twin Falls and preached at Bethel Temple Church prior to 1931. In 1955, the wooden church building was sold and moved to the corner of Tyler Street and Heyburn Avenue, and a new Bethel Temple Church building was built as a brick structure. Sunday school rooms were added approximately five years later. Pastor David remained the pastor of Bethel Temple until his passing in September 1963.
1981-2006
On January 30, 1981, Pastor Picklesimer preached his first message as the pastor of Bethel Temple Church. Bethel Temple Church’s foundation was then re-established through patience, teaching, and prayer. He taught the church to pray and emphasized the importance of daily prayer, alongside other organized prayer times. Under Pastor Picklesimer’s leadership and the burden for souls, Sunday School, Bus Ministry, Outreach, and efforts to reach out to other towns became a greater focus. In 1985, a Sunday School addition was built onto the church, and later the buses were changed from all-white to painted various colors. Foreign missions were emphasized, and substantial growth occurred in giving.
2006 - Present
On June 6, 2006, Pastor Collins became the Pastor of Bethel Temple Church. His first message as Pastor was preached on the morning of June 11, 2006. God has given Pastor and Sister Collins a burden for young people and children. God began to deal with Pastor Collins about starting a church school, and in preparation for the new church school, a family center was designed on the church property. Bethel Temple Christian Academy was started in the fall of 2008. Pastor Collins carried on the burden for souls through the Bus Ministry and Sunday School and continued the vision of supporting foreign missions. In 2020, Bethel Temple sent out Bro. and Sis. Johnny Collins to the foreign mission field of Taiwan. Pastor Collins has emphasized the need for daily prayer and weekly fasting to bring about revival.
