Lasting Virtues

1 Corinthians 13:13: And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Throughout man’s history to this present day, there are many who have demonstrated these qualities in the worst circumstances.  People whose faith and convictions are never shaken; those who always find reason for optimism; and the charitable, who are eager to spend themselves and their resources to help others.  Such stories are a light in the darkest days, and help to stir the best qualities in all of us.  People like these become instant heroes though they never seek notoriety.

Our church realizes there are many unsung heroes in the present distress.  We appreciate the efforts of all who are doing their part to move our country forward.  We appreciate officials who are acting in good faith for the good of the citizenry.  Thank you to ALL the medical professionals for the stress they endure every day to care for the sick.  We salute those who continue to work to keep the supply chain open, from the farmers to the processing facilities, and those involved in getting the products to the consumers.  In places, our military has been put to work to assist local efforts in sanitation.  As always, our law enforcement staff continue to put their lives on the line every day to promote our safety and well-being.  These are just a few of the many usually taken for granted, but in these times we understand more fully how much we rely on their services.

There are many others whom we will never see or know.  People looking out for one another in many thoughtful ways, going above and beyond what is required. It really does come down to everyone doing what we are able to do.  Bethel Temple is thankful to be part of this great community, and are still proud to be Americans, especially in times like these!
