Looking Unto Jesus

Hebrews 12:1-3: Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, (2) Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. (3) For consider him [Jesus] that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

Jesus is our only Hope in this world. This passage of Scripture states some of the troubles that we can encounter in life, such as, sin, weariness, and fainting in our minds. Yet it does not leave us to deal with those troubles by ourselves. We are to look unto Jesus. He endured the cross, the shame, and the contradiction of sinners against Himself for us so that we could live a life free of sin and oppressive worry. We get our hope from Jesus.

How do we look to Jesus? Do we just think about Him and all of our problems are gone? No, we turn to Him and follow Him.

Psalm 32:8: I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

When we look to Jesus, He will show us what to do and where to go. In these troubled times in this world, Jesus is our Hope.

Psalms 121:1-2: I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. (2) My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
