The Holy Ghost

What is the Holy Ghost? This question has been answered in many ways throughout history, but only one source can provide the correct answer, the Bible. In Scripture, many terms are used to describe God. One of these is “The Holy Ghost.” These different names give us insight into many of the various attributes of God. Today, we will explore some of the implications of the term Holy Ghost or Spirit.

John 14:26: But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

The Holy Ghost is the Comforter. When you feel God’s Spirit, you immediately feel comforted by His presence. All the cares and worries of life fade away when He shows up. The Holy Ghost is also a great Teacher. He can speak to your heart and help you know what to do in times of uncertainty. He knows what is ahead and can give you the knowledge you will need.

Romans 15:13: Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

The source of all true joy is the Holy Ghost. Nothing can compare to the joy that comes when He fills your soul. It flows out of your innermost being like a fountain of clean, pure water. He also brings an abundance of peace and hope. This hope causes us to look up toward the eastern sky as Jesus will return and rapture His people away someday soon.

This Spirit is intended to be received. Jesus promised that He would come and dwell inside of the hearts of men. On the day of Pentecost this happened to 120 people in an upper room.

Acts 2:4: And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

When a person receives the Holy Ghost, they speak in a language they do not understand by the power of the Spirit. It is the most wonderful experience known to man. God Himself comes into their heart and they feel comfort, joy, peace, and hope that cannot be described. This promise is available today for all who desire it with all of their heart.

Acts 2:17: And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh…
